Cortés City

Puerto Cortés, the main city of the Osa canton is a community with a transcendental historical importance during the conquest, colonization and development of southeastern Costa Rica.

With lush vegetation, nostalgic architecture and charming panoramic views, this city is today’s administrative capital of one of the cantons with the highest economical potential in the Brunca Region.

Now, with the Municipal Palace, the Doctor Tomás Casas Hospital and a planned civic center located three kilometers from the historic center, away from the danger of a possible flooding, it is also beginning to become a landmark for national and international tourism.

The city is located in an intermediate point between the Pacific coast and the community of Palmar Norte, next to the coastal road, which facilitates access to some of the most beautiful and popular Costa Rican beaches and important archaeological sites such as the Museo de las Esferas.

Nearby, and within its jurisdiction is the Corcovado National Park with an intense biological activity and the Marino Ballena National Park, famous for its dolphins and whales coming from both ends of the Continent.
